Camavinga's agent flirts with idea of France wonderkid joining Madrid

Eduardo Camavinga’s agent flirts with idea of him joining Real Madrid as he insists ‘we have a fantastic relationship with the LaLiga giants’ despite hitting out at the club for their treatment of his client Gareth Bale in the past

  • Wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid
  • The 18-year-old signed with Gareth Bale’s agent Johnathan Barnett last month
  • Barnett suggested he could easily orchestrate a move to Madrid for Camavinga
  • However, he has hit out at Madrid’s treatment of Bale several times in the past

Eduardo Camavinga’s agent Jonathan Barnett has flirted with the idea of the French wonderkid joining Real Madrid by insisting he has a ‘fantastic relationship’ with the LaLiga giants.

The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most burgeoning young talents in Europe and has been a key transfer target of Madrid’s for some time.

Reports in Spain this week claimed Madrid are planning to press on with a £44million move for the Rennes star despite recently rewarding Luka Modric with a new contract as they see him as the future of their midfield.

And Camavinga’s agent Barnett, who also represents Gareth Bale, has refused to rule out a move to the Spanish side in the coming months amid intensifying speculation around his future.

‘We have a great relationship with Rennes and we’re working closely with Eduardo Camavinga’s father and family,’ he told L’Équipe.

‘The most important thing is to do what’s best for him.

‘Real Madrid? We have a fantastic relationship with them. Ask them.’

Camavinga signed with Barnett in December after sacking his agent Moussa Sissoko amid interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, including Manchester United and Juventus.

Madrid are believed to be the front runners for his signature and Barnett has suggested he could easily orchestrate a move to the club for Camavinga despite his client Bale’s nightmare spell there.

The midfielder has already scored and represented France on the international stage

The Welshman is currently on loan at Tottenham from Madrid, having been turfed out by boss Zinedine Zidane after spending the last few years at the club mostly warming the bench.

Barnett has spoken out about Bale’s mistreatment at Madrid on several occasions and once called their fans ‘disgraceful’ for jeering him during a match.

He also said back in September: ‘This country should be very proud of him, Great Britain should be very proud of him. Stop knocking him and write what he’s done and what he’s achieved.

‘It’s very annoying, and it’s the same with Real Madrid and what he’s achieved for them. They should be kissing the floor he walks on.’

Madrid are hoping the £650,000-a-week forward, who has struggled for fitness and form since re-signing for Tottenham, will remain in north London for the duration of his loan before trying to sell him again in the summer to finance their transfer plans.

Camavinga, who has already scored and represented his country three times at senior level, is a player Madrid are desperate to sign while PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is also on their wishlist.
