Callum Hudson-Odoi 'could leave for a BARGAIN price this summer'

Callum Hudson-Odoi ‘could leave for a BARGAIN price this summer’ after Chelsea’s £88m signing of Mykhailo Mudryk… with the on-loan winger facing tough competition to get back into Graham Potter’s plans

  • Callum Hudson-Odoi was already struggling to find playing time at Chelsea
  • And that won’t be easier after the signing of Ukrainian attacker Mykhailo Mudryk
  • Hudson-Odoi is spending this season on loan with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany
  • The winger is reportedly set to make a decision about his future this summer

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could reportedly leave for a bargain fee this summer with just 12 months left on his contract.

The player, who is currently on loan with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, has found opportunities extremely difficult to come by in recent seasons within the team’s crowded attack.

And Hudson-Odoi has fallen further down the pecking order in Graham Potter’s squad following the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk, with The Athletic reporting the Chelsea academy graduate is set to make a decision on his future this summer.

Callum Hudson-Odoi left Chelsea this season on loan in search of more regular playing time

Mykhailo Mudryk was introduced to Chelsea fans on Sunday following his move from Shakhtar Donetsk

The report also states Hudson-Odoi’s decision will take into account whether on-loan attacker Joao Felix makes a permanent switch to London in the summer.

Since making his first team debut in 2018, Hudson-Odoi has never started more than 11 games in the league, as he hit that mark last season under Thomas Tuchel.

He has made 15 appearances, including 11 starts, in all competitions this season after moving to Germany for more regular playing time.

If the winger, who’s been capped three times by England, does not agree an extension with Chelsea over the summer, he will be able to start talking to foreign clubs in January 2024.

Hudson-Odoi has shown flashes for Chelsea but has never established himself as a regular starter.

Todd Boehly has spent over £445million on transfers since becoming Chelsea’s owner

His versatility has also led to him being used as a wing-back at times, rather than his preferred role further up the field.

Mudryk’s arrival is the latest in owner Todd Boehly’s massive January spending spree as the club have already spent £140m this transfer window.

Chelsea also spent big on Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana last year, with Christopher Nkunku set to add even more competition to the attacking places next summer.

The Blues’ total outlay since Boehly’s consortium took over the Stamford Bridge club stands at more than £445m following the purchase of Mudryk.
