Caicedo has ‘nightmare’ Chelsea debut as performance prompts Liverpool laughs
Jamie Carragher branded Moises Caicedo’s Chelsea debut ‘a nightmare’ after the £115million British-record arrival gave away a penalty in his side’s frustrating 3-1 defeat to West Ham. The Hammers picked up an impressive victory despite finishing the game with 10 men after Nayef Aguerd received a second yellow card.
But that didn’t stop West Ham from grinding out a credible victory and they added a third goal from the penalty spot after Caicedo chopped down Emerson Palmieri.
Carragher said during commentary: “Caicedo has had a bit of a nightmare since he came on. It’s a poor, lazy challenge.”
The former Brighton maestro was subbed on in the second half but he will be keen to forget his first outing in blue in a hurry.
He nearly gave away a goal when he lost the ball in a dangerous area before Robert Sanchez was forced into a fine stop to deny Pablo Fornals.

Liverpool supporters were also revelling in Caicedo’s misery on social media following his decision to snub a move to Anfield.
The Reds struck a £110m deal with Brighton only for Caicedo to dig his heels into the ground and wait for a compromise with Chelsea.
Liverpool fan @xgvhdzschris said on Twitter: “We dodged a £110 million missile here.”
“All this while God knows what’s best for Liverpool,” said @AbdulR082003.

West Ham started brightly when Aguerd headed home from debutant James Ward-Prowse’s corner.
But Chelsea responded well and were level through a brilliant strike from Carney Chukwuemeka.
The ex-Aston Villa teenager was then forced off with a knee injury and that seemed to disrupt Chelsea’s rhythm.
In the second half, the Hammers were back in front when Michail Antonio blasted home from range to send the London Stadium into ecstasy.
However, things would get even better when Lucas Paqueta converted his spot-kick from 12 yards after Caicedo’s poor challenge on Palmieri.
