Burnley’s amazing Shrek-themed transfer video has fans calling it ‘best ever’

Forget Jim White and his yellow tie, forget 11th-hour helicopter flights on Deadline Day, forget Alan Irwin taking a dildo to the face … Burnley's player announcement videos are the best thing going about the transfer window right now!

Over the last couple of seasons the Clarets have produced belter after belter whenever they sign a new star, and they've outdone themselves yet again after announcing the capture of South African forward Lyle Foster, this time with a Shrek-inspired masterpiece.

The clip they've parodied is from the first movie, where the evil Lord Farquaad asks the Magic Mirror to recommend three princesses for him to marry.

Burnley's genius social media team dubbed over the scene so that Farquaad is asking for 'January signings' instead, with the Magic Mirror suggesting he pick between Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Foster.

As Farquaad does in the movie, he nervously dithers as his henchmen shout suggestions before eventually picking 'number three', aka Foster (check the video out below).

Fans on social media were in awe of the clip, with one labelling it "the best announcement video ever".

"This is brilliant. Love the creativity," commented another, while a third wrote: "Mirror mirror on the wall, show me the best announcement video of them all."

Foster, 22, joins from Belgian side Westerlo having netted eight goals in 23 matches league games this season. Burnley are currently five points clear at the top of the Championship, with their only defeat in their last 11 matches coming against Manchester United in the EFL Cup.

In an interview published on the club's website on Wednesday, Foster said: "I’m very happy to be here, I’m blessed and thankful for the opportunity and I just can’t wait to get started.

"From the moment I heard that there was interest from Burnley, my heart and my head were set on the club. I’m so happy to be here now. It’s a dream for me."
