Burnley’s clash with Tottenham has been postponed as freezing temperatures up north resulted in a blanket of snow covering Turf Moor. Meanwhile, manager Sean Dyche was seen scanning the pitch without even wearing a jacket, something sure to cement his hard-man reputation going forward.

Burnley and Spurs were set to do battle on Sunday afternoon as Antonio Conte sought to bounce back from a dismal midweek defeat against NS Mura.

The Clarets, meanwhile, will have been keen to build on their momentum as soon as possible given their four-game Premier League unbeaten streak.

However, snow has seemingly put a halt to those ambitions, with the game postponed until further notice.

“We asked officials to sweep the snow, they worked as hard as they could, but the best thing to do was call the game off an hour before,” claimed referee Peter Bankes.

The freezing temperatures were not enough to stop notorious hard knock Dyche, who was snapped surveying the pitch wearing nothing more than a shirt and trousers.

Poor conditions were also seen elsewhere, with snow falling on the Etihad ahead of Manchester City’s clash with West Ham, although no decisive action has been taken as yet.

Spurs visited Turf Moor just one month ago, with Lucas Moura’s strike ensuring that they left with a 1-0 victory.

The Lilywights changed managers just a few days later, and although Conte’s reign is understandably yet to hit top gear, his track record threatens to make them a much scarier prospect.

That being said, the Italian gave a bleak assessment of Spurs’ current state of affairs after Slovenian minnows NS Mura ran out 2-1 winners on Thursday.

On a night when it all went wrong for the north London side, Ryan Sessegnon was sent off after being given a rare chance to start, and a last-gasp winner rubbed salt into the wounds.

“I must be honest and tell you that after three-and-a-half weeks, I am starting to understand the situation,” he admitted after the final whistle.

“I am happy to stay here but at the same time I must be honest and tell you we need to work a lot to improve the quality of the squad.

“It is not simple because, in this moment for sure, the level of Tottenham is not so high.

“This road could be one metre or 100m. I am not scared, I am ready to go and do this path. But at the same time I want to be very honest – we have to work a lot and improve in many, many aspects.

“We need time, but we have to do better in everything, everything, everything.”
