Buendia makes decision over Arsenal transfer as Gunners consider swap deal
Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia has welcomed interest from Arsenal and is keen to push for a move to Mikel Arteta’s side in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Argentine his one of the Gunners’ top targets this month with Arteta keen to bolster his creative options in midfield.
Arsenal have reportedly held initial talks with Buendia’s agent, while Norwich have set a £40 million asking price.
Reports on Monday claimed that the Gunners are looking to reduce Norwich’s valuation with a player-plus-cash deal and are willing to offer either Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson on loan as part of the move.
Norwich are adamant that Buendia will not be sold this month but according to CBS Sports, the midfielder is ready to tell the Championship club that he is ready to join the Gunners if they make a formal approach.
The report claims that Arsenal have only held ‘informal talks’ about a potential move so far.
Speaking at the weekend, Norwich boss Daniel Farke insisted that he was not considering the prospect of Buendia leaving before the end of the season.
‘Emi is a key player for us, an important member of the group, and he is totally committed to us,’ said Farke.
‘He is our player and will continue to be our player. He is on a long-term contract so we keep him.
‘Everyone knows his qualities – I don’t expect interest just because he scored a wondergoal today. People know what he can do.’
