Brighton order Caicedo ‘don’t attend training’ after he begs to leave for £60m

Moises Caicedo has reportedly been told not to attend Brighton training after begging for a transfer on social media following interest from Premier League leaders Arsenal.

The 21-year-old thanked his current club for their support before asking to be allowed to take up a 'magnificent opportunity' after a £60million bid was rejected.

BBC Sport now report that Ecuador international Caicedo has been told to take some time off by the club and not call in for training until after Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Brighton insist that their man is not for sale this month, with Chelsea also showing interest but not matching their lofty valuation of the midfielder.

The news means he will miss their FA Cup fourth round clash against Liverpool, having made 18 Premier League starts this season and playing the full game in their win over Middlesbrough in the last round of the cup.

The transfer window hasn't been without controversy for Roberto De Zerbi and his club, with Leandro Trossard recently leaving to move to the Emirates after a falling out.

Having joined the club for just £4m from Ecuadorian outfit Independiente del Valle in August of 2021, he has been brought into the first team after a loan at Beerschot in Belgium.

Caicedo had wrote: "I am grateful to [Brighton owner] Mr. [Tony] Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them.

"I always play football with a smile and with heart.

"I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

"I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

"The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take this magnificent opportunity."
