Brighton make £4.5m bid for Manchester United target Moises Caicedo with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side yet to make move for Ecuadorian

  • Manchester United have been heavily linked with the star but are yet to move 
  • The Seagulls are hoping to hear back from Independiente in a matter of days 
  • Caicedo is also being monitored by Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle United 

Brighton have made a £4.5million offer for coveted Ecuador international Moises Caicedo.

The 19-year old from Independiente del Valle has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but the Old Trafford club have yet to make an offer.

Chelsea have shown interest and that was a move understood to be favoured by the talented midfielder while West Ham are also understood to have opened discussions over a deal.

However, Brighton are the club pushing to reach an agreement and hope to have an answer over the weekend.

Caicedo also has interest from Everton and Newcastle after a series of impressive performances. He has been capped four times already by Ecuador.

Brighton have previously negotiated with Independiente for Billy Arce in 2018.

Independiente appeared to confirm that a deal was on the brink of being completed earlier this week.

‘We have received an offer from a European club for Moises Caicedo,’ revealed the club’s manager, Santiago Morales.

‘We are negotiating the proposal. It is most likely that he will not be in our team in 2021. Due to the proposal we’ve received, it is very difficult to keep him.’ 

The teenager is the first ever player born in the 21st century to score in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier.
