Brighton are in talks with Benfica over a £25million swoop for striker Darwin Nunez Seagulls officials are locked in discussions with their Portuguese counterparts with a view to concluding a deal.
If Brighton can come to an agreement for Nunez, the Uruguay international will become the club’s record signing.
The 22-year-old scored 14 goals for Benfica last season and has notched twice for his national team in four appearances.

The youngster also managed an impressive 12 assists in all competitions for the Portuguese club.
Nunez began his career with Urguayan side Penarol before joining second-tier Spanish club Almeria in 2019.
The striker’s 16 goals in his first season in Spain convinced Benfica to pay a club record fee of £21.8m last summer. Almeria are also thought have a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
The Seagulls have been looking to sign a striker in this window after struggling in front of goal last season.
Only five teams scored fewer goals than Graham Potter’s side last term, with Neal Maupay finishing the campaign as top scorer with eight.
