Brazil legend Pele to be moved out of intensive care after having tumour removed

Pele is set to be moved out of intensive care within the next 48 hours as he continues to recover from surgery, the Brazil legend's daughter has confirmed.

Pele, 80, went under the knife to have a tumour removed from his colon earlier this month.

His surgery took place at the Alberto Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, where he has remained in intensive care after completing it successfully.

The three-time World Cup winner has received messages of support from across the globe since news of his operation first emerged – and now his daughter has provided a positive update for fans on social media.

Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram: "I would like to thank you very, very much, from the bottom of my heart, for all the loving and concerned texts, DMs, zaps and emails I have received.

"I haven't had time to answer them all yet, but I read it and feel embraced!
