Besiktas give Everton flop Dele Alli incredible welcome as he arrives in Turkey

Everton flop Dele Alli was given an incredible reception by Besiktas fans when arriving at his new club.

The 26-year-old will join the Turkish Super Lig side on a season-long loan after failing to make an impression under Frank Lampard at Goodison Park. And it appears the attacking-midfielder is already a fan favourite in Istanbul.

Hundreds of fans turned up at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Wednesday to greet their new signing. Viral social media footage showed them in full voice as they chanted Besiktas songs in anticipation of his arrival, before giving the Englishman a warm welcome that will surely fill him with some much-needed confidence.

Alli even started a chant with the help of a hype man, which he performed while wearing a scarf in the colours of his new club.

It comes as a fresh start after his disappointing move to Everton in January in a deal which could have risen to a whopping £40million. Alli joined the Toffees in search of more game time but things have not gone to plan for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

Do you think Dele Alli will resurrect his career at Besiktas? Let us know in the comments section.

It is believed Spurs would have earned £10m after his 20th appearance for the Toffees, but the player has made just 13 appearances for Everton. And to make matters worse, he has also failed to score or assist in the Premier League after seven months at Goodison Park.

Alli’s move to Besiktas at such a young age will come as bittersweet news to those who backed him to go on to become a Tottenham and England legend. His current career trajectory is a far cry from the player who was named PFA Young Player of the Year in both of his first two years in North London.

Yet a change of scenery could be exactly what Alli needs to recapture some of his scintillating old form in the coming months.
