Bayern Munich 'fear Kingsley Coman could leave for Man United'

Bayern Munich fear Kingsley Coman could reject a new contract and leave for Manchester United in the summer with Red Devils ‘offering him weekly wages of £260k’

  • Bayern Munich want to extend Kingsley Coman’s contract beyond 2023
  • But they are reportedly concerned the 24-year-old winger will turn them down
  • The player’s camp are aware of interest from Manchester United
  • Bild report that United have indicated they could pay him £260k-a-week wages
  • This is likely to be far more than Coman could earn with a new deal at Bayern

Bayern Munich ‘fear Kingsley Coman could be tempted away to Manchester United’ this summer because the Premier League club can pay him significantly more.

The France international winger, 24, is contracted to Bayern until 2023 but the European champions are keen to extend his deal beyond then.

However, according to German newspaper Bild, United have firm interest in Coman and have indicated to his representatives he could earn around £260,000-a-week before tax at Old Trafford.

They report that Coman would expect a sizeable pay increase on his estimated current wages of £140,000-a-week to commit to Bayern.

So far, the Coman camp has remained silent on the possibility of committing to Bayern and the German champions have been left fearing a repeat of David Alaba’s departure.

Alaba rejected a new contract offer from Bayern in November and will allow his existing deal to run down and leave for nothing this summer.

The Austrian defender, who had been at Bayern for 13 years, has been linked with United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

While Coman couldn’t leave on a free this summer, Bayern reportedly fear he will be tempted to move in search of a bigger salary.

Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is in the process of negotiating new contracts

After sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic secured the signing of Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig and also left-back Omar Richards from Reading to reinforce their defence, he has turned attention to contract renewals.

Coman, Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are the priorities for renewal with Salihamidzic telling Bild: ‘It is our goal to keep this core of players who have walked the road to success with us together.’

Kimmich and Goretzka are set to sign up but Coman’s future is reportedly far from clear.

He has helped Bayern win five Bundesliga titles, three Germans Cups, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup since joining from Juventus.
