Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman will have a huge managerial headache next season, particularly when it comes to picking his side’s attack. The Dutchman can be considered lucky to keep his job after a turbulent campaign that saw the club end the La Liga season in third place.

Paris Saint-Germain also dumped Barca out of the Champions League in the Round of 16 but Koeman’s Copa del Rey triumph was enough to spare his blushes.

The former Everton boss knows he’s on borrowed time though and with several signings now on board, he will be expected to deliver.

Koeman has been using three at the back and that is set to continue into next season.

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is going nowhere and will stay as the club’s No 1 goalkeeper.

In front of him, new signing Eric Garcia could step in as part of the back-three.

Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique will continue to keep their pace as they provide some additional experience.

At the base of midfield, Sergio Busquets should also start alongside Frenkie De Jong.

Jordi Alba should also keep his place in a wing-back role but on the other flank, there could be extra attacking impetus.

It’s believed Barca are keen on signing Bernardo Silva and he will be able to leave Man City this summer.

Although he would love to play further forward, Barca’s ability to dominate possession would give him more freedom.

Competition for places in the final third will be incredibly fierce.

There could be no room for Ousmane Dembele while expected new boy Memphis Depay could also struggle to start for Barca.

Antoine Griezmann should continue to play in attack while Lionel Messi remains undroppable.

Sergio Aguero has been signed though and he is expected to lead the line in La Liga next term.

The likes of Philippe Coutinho and Miralem Pjanic could well be sold.

The squad certainly looks more competitive ahead of next season and there is still a chance there could be more additions to Koeman’s ranks.

Potential Barcelona XI next season (3-4-3): Ter Stegen; Lenglet, Pique, Garcia; Alba, Busquets, De Jong, Bernardo; Griezmann, Messi, Aguero.
