Barcelona have drawn up a four-man shortlist to replace Sergio Aguero ahead of his spell on the sidelines, according to reports. In January, the Catalan giants could look to the Premier League for attacking reinforcements amid Aguero’s lengthy absence.
The Argentine striker was taken to hospital during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Alaves last week after suffering from breathing problems and chest pains.
In a statement on Tuesday, Barca confirmed that Aguero would be out of action for three months following cardiac tests.
It read: “Barca player Kun Aguero has been subjected to a diagnostic and therapeutic process by Dr. Josep Brugada.
“He is unavailable for selection and, during the next three months, the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process.”

But according to Sport, the La Liga strugglers are targeting four names to replace Aguero in January.
Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani and RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi make up the shortlist.
Barcelona could be looking at Lacazette and Cavani as cut-price, experienced options, given their current deals expire at the end of the season.
Sterling is in a contract stand-off with Man City and could leave the club for free in 2023. But the Premier League champions would prefer to cash in on him, and he’d undoubtedly fancy a move to Camp Nou.

Adeyemi would be a long-term signing and perhaps the least likely on the list, given the fee Salzburg would likely demand to part ways in January.
The German teenager has been linked with Liverpool ahead of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane’s winter absence due to the African Cup of Nations.
It’s an interesting list including players who wouldn’t refuse a move to Spain given their current situations.

Barcelona’s January recruitment could add to Xavi’s squad after the club legend publically stated his desire to leave Al-Sadd and succeed Ronald Koeman as manager.
He told reporters: “I’ve been talking to Barca for days, it’s done. I’m really looking forward to going home, I hope it happens. It would be spectacular and exciting.
“But now it depends on the conversations between clubs, they need to reach an agreement. Barca is coming to talk, we are all eager and excited.
“We’ll see if it ends up being done. It is a matter of common sense, it has to happen [Al-Sadd letting him go]. I feel very emotional about it.”
