Barcelona identify 14 potential summer transfer exits including Coutinho
Barcelona are looking to move on 14 players this summer with Philippe Coutinho among those heading for the exits.
The club have reportedly drawn up an extensive list of players who can either be sold, loaned out or moved on as a free agent this summer.
The only player out of contract at the Camp Nou this summer is superstar attacker Lionel Messi, whom the club are hopeful of keeping via a contract renewal – but to fund that, multiple players will need to be moved on according to A report from Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo.
Chief among them is former Liverpool playmaker Coutinho – the club’s record signing.
The Brazilian spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich and has been on the periphery once again this campaign.
The Brazilian has suffered injury setbacks this season but has scored only three goals across 10 starts.
He has been linked with a return to the Premier League – with Everton and Arsenal among the clubs tipped to make a move.
Back-up goalkeeper Neto, Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Miralem Pjanic and ex-Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite are among those viewed as dispensable by the Blaugrana, although it is unlikely any will be able to command a notable transfer fee coupled with their wage demands.
The club are also hopeful of moving on Brazilian midfielder Matheus Fernandes – who has made just one appearance for the club – while the future of Sergi Roberto, who is out of contract in 2022, is also uncertain.
Midfielder Riqui Puig and forward Francisco Trincao – who have both struggled for any sustained runs of first-team football – may be among those made available for loan.
However, due to the financial uncertainty surrounding the Catalan giants this summer and their collapsed plans of a European Super League, they may be forced to listen to offers for first-team stars if they are to rejuvenate their squad.
Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Nelson Semedo and Ivan Rakitic were among the exits from the club last summer.
