Axed Sky Sports Soccer Saturday pundits have been touring after brutal sacking

They were on our television screens for decades and football fans have been yearning for them ever since they left.

The former Sky Sports Soccer Saturday trio of Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas, who were all axed in 2020, have been sorely missed.

The magic they created with host Jeff Stelling, who himself is leaving at the end of this season, and fellow analyst Paul Merson, is hard to recreate.

Since then, the threesome have largely disappeared from view – well, two of them have – and a rare sighting of the ex-colleagues having a meal together last year sent fans wild.

To get you up to speed, here's where they all are now.

While he may not be a regular on weekly TV anymore, Le Tissier, 53, has more than kept himself in the limelight.

His opposing views on Covid-19 restrictions and vaccinations have seen him become a divisive social media presence.

The Southampton legend may have come in for a lot of stick in the past two years, but he has found a way to cash in on the attention, as fans can book him on various sites to send personalised video messages.

Le Tiss was also recently recognised for a very prestigious award – Daily Star's Bellen d'Or 2021.

Who's your favourite pundit? Let us know in the comments section.

Charlie Nicholas

Nicholas, who's most well-remembered moment on the show was his awful Specsavers comeback at Stelling, is a football icon north of the border.

So the former Arsenal and Celtic forward still writes a column for the Scottish Daily Express at the age of 60.

Meanwhile, he makes broadcast appearances from time-to-time, and he and his close friends are currently embarking on run of shows for the 'Pundits Tour'.

All five of the panel have been discussing their memories together in front of live audiences up and down the country.

Phil Thompson

As a Liverpool legend, Thommo has kept himself busy by working for LFCTV this season.

He also remains a Paddy Power ambassador, which sees him give his football tips on a regular basis.

Although he is now 68 years old, the ex-England captain is keeping up with the times and recently set up his own Instagram account.

On there he's been sharing images from their tour which is giving fans their nostalgic Soccer Saturday fix once again.
