Arteta says Saka can still 'demand more of himself'
‘There are moments he can improve’: Mikel Arteta says Bukayo Saka can still ‘demand more of himself’ after Arsenal star scored winner against Bodo/Glimt
- Arsenal have ended Bodo/Glimt’s run of 14 consecutive home European wins
- The Gunners won 1-0 in Norway thanks to a Bukayo Saka goal in the first half
- It leaves Mikel Arteta’s side on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages
Bukayo Saka scored the winner against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night but manager Mikel Arteta says there were elements of the winger’s display that he can still improve upon.
The Gunners ended the Norwegian side’s run of 14 consecutive home European wins, leaving the Arctic Circle with a hard-fought 1-0 win after Saka scored the only goal of the evening in fortuitous circumstances.
The goal was all the Englishman’s own work as he played a one-two to get in behind before seeing his first shot blocked back into his path and into the goal off of him.

Manager Mikel Arteta says there are still areas where the English winger can improve
Arsenal were forced to work hard to protect their advantage and Arteta thinks Saka could have offered more on the other end of the pitch.
Speaking after the game, the manager said: ‘he had moments in the game where he was really good and then moments he can improve and demand more of himself, especially defensively.
‘There were moments where we allowed their left full-back to progress the play and break our press too easily. There a lot of things to improve.
‘I’m really happy with the win against a team that has won the last 14 games here at home. It’s not a coincidence.’
The win, Arsenal’s 11th in 12 games across all competitions this season, puts them on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages.
