Arteta responds to Kroenke statement amid constant Arsenal takeover speculation

Mikel Arteta believes the statement by Arsenal owners the Kroenkes removes any possible doubt over a takeover.

The Kroenkes are under pressure to sell the Gunners following the European Super League proposal farce last week.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek and Gunners legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira are believed to be close to making a bid for the Premier League giants.

Though Stan Kroenke and son Josh released a statement on Tuesday reiterating that they have no intention of selling Arsenal.

And Arteta believes that will now be the end of the matter, despite the constant voice of disapproval from fans.

"They showed their ambition and commitment to the football club,” Arteta said. “It was very clear.

“It took any doubt out of the situation. I think that is gone."

Arsenal were one of 12 clubs involved in proposals for a European Super League though plans did not go down well with fans.

Gunners supporters protested outside the Emirates, wanting Stan Kroenke to sell the club.

At a Fans' Forum last week, Josh Kroenke apologised to fans for signing Arsenal up to the ESL and said KSE will cover the costs incurred by the Gunners decision to withdraw from the competition.

Tuesday’s statement read: “In recent days we have noted media speculation regarding a potential takeover bid for Arsenal Football Club.

“We remain 100 per cent committed to Arsenal and are not selling any stake in the club. We have not received any offer and we will not entertain any offer.

“Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this.”
