Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette could be left in limbo with Mikel Arteta and Edu reportedly eyeing three potential replacements in the summer transfer window. Lacazette is about to enter the final year of his contract with the Gunners, and the Premier League side are believed to be considering cashing in on the French striker.

Lacazette is Arsenal’s top scorer this season, with his 17 goals in all competitions placing him two ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But while Aubameyang signed a contract extension last summer committing him to the club until 2023, his team-mate will have just 12 months left on his deal at the end of what has ultimately proved a disappointing season for the Gunners.

Manager Arteta and technical director Edu are expected to launch a squad overhaul this summer, with two new full-backs, a midfielder, a striker and a goalkeeper expected to be on their shopping list.

And despite his goalscoring exploits this season, Lacazette could be one of the casualties as Arsenal look to raise funds for the revamp.

Talks are expected to take place soon over the French forward’s situation – but they could end with him being sold, according to Goal.

The 29-year-old is a popular player at The Emirates and is said to be well liked by Arteta, but his exit could bring in crucial funds to help fund a move for long-term attacking option.

Odsonne Edouard is high on Arsenal’s list of potential replacements – but the Gunners are expected to face competition from Leicester City for the 23-year-old, who is expected to leave Celtic this summer.

Arsenal are also said to be looking at Sporting Lisbon’s 18-year-old forward Tiago Tomas, as well as 24-year-old Moussa Dembele, who is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid from Lyon.

Diego Simeone’s side could potentially be competition for Dembele, but Los Rojiblancos are also long-term admirers of Lacazette – which could see the Gunners cash in.

The sale of Lacazette could raise around £30m – which would likely be enough to sign either of the three strikers on Arsenal’s shortlist.

Edouard has scored 16 Scottish Premiership goals this season and has just a year left on his contract at Celtic Park.

Dembele has struggled with fitness issues and has played just five minutes in la Liga since joining Atletico on loan, while Tomas has scored four goals for Sporting this season and would be viewed as an option for the future, with the teenager able to play as a second striker or winger as well as a No9.
