Arsenal could have a new-look side next season if Mikel Arteta signs four summer transfer targets. The Gunners need to bounce back from back-to-back eighth-placed finishes in the Premier League and a squad overhaul is required. Express Sport looks at how Arteta’s side could line up following this summer’s window.

Goalkeeper – Onana

Andre Onana will not be able to start the season with Arsenal if he does indeed complete a move to the Emirates.

The Ajax goalkeeper is heavily linked with the Gunners and had his doping ban reduced on Thursday to nine months.

Onana can therefore start playing again in early November and train two months earlier in September.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bernd Leno, who is entering the final two years of his contract.

Arsenal will not want to start next season with Runar Alex Runarsson in goal while waiting for Onana to be available.

Defence – Adams, Adarabioyo, Gabriel, Tierney

The defence sees two new additions and two players who have only recently emerged as targets for the Gunners.

RB Leipzig star Tyler Adams adds to a long list of right-backs Arteta has been linked with.

Adams’ versatility of also being able to play in midfield is attractive to the Arsenal boss.

Meanwhile, Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo is a reported target and has a release clause of £10m in his contract.

Gabriel and Kieran Tierney make up the rest of the backline.

Midfield – Partey, De Paul; Smith Rowe

Another new target linked with Arsenal is Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

Reports say the Gunners are in talks over a potential deal for the midfielder, who scored nine goals and nine assists in Serie A last season.

De Paul would provide a different option alongside Thomas Partey, who had a difficult first season at the club.

Emile Smith Rowe made the No 10 role his own in the second half of last term and deserves to keep his spot next season.

Attack – Pepe, Lacazette, Saka

There are no new signings in the frontline, with Alexandre Lacazette remaining as the main striker.

Lacazette’s future is in doubt, with his contract set to expire in 2022.

His departure would lead to the Gunners exploring alternative options in the transfer market.

Nicolas Pepe deserves a run of games at the start of next season after finishing the last campaign on fire.

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is one of the first names on the team sheet and completes the attack.
