Arsenal star Thomas Partey has given himself a measly 4/10 for his performances since he arrived at the club. The midfielder joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid last autumn and has gone on to rack up 44 appearances for his side.

Partey has struggled to make a positive impact at times in north London and his recent displays will be giving Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta problems as he looks to guide his side into the top four.

The midfielder was slammed for his performance against Manchester United on Thursday night as he lacked discipline in defence and was wasteful in possession.

Arteta’s patience could be wearing thin – and Partey has even admitted himself that he hasn’t performed well in an Arsenal shirt.

“I would give myself a four because there are moments in the game where I can’t be really hurting the other team,” Partey told Sky Sports.

“Because I’m not yet adapted to the Premier League maybe I lose a bit of focus and that’s when everything goes down.”

Arsenal shelled out a staggering £45.3million to bring Partey to the Premier League last October.

The 28-year-old has struggled with a string of injuries at the Emirates Stadium but has been a regular starter when fit.

He was named in Arteta’s starting line-up for both legs of last season’s Europa Cup semi-final as the Gunners were defeated by eventual champions Villarreal.

This season, the Ghana international has started nine of his team’s 14 Premier League games.

He was sidelined with an ankle injury for Arsenal’s opening three clashes of the campaign as the north Londoners failed to pick up a point and fell to the bottom of the table.

His return has coincided with the Gunners’ good run of form as he has since played in six of his side’s victories.

And the midfielder admits he can give more for his team.

“From the start I had a couple of moments where I gave two balls away [against United],” said Partey. “And someone watching TV from home or in the stadium – it’s normal that they see this.

“But at the end I have to be happy with some moments. I have to learn from the bad parts and try to do better.

“They demanded more and personally I know I can give more so I have to keep working and at the end I will get the results.

“From the defence to attack I can help the team a lot. I have to read more of the game.

“Now I’m having a lot of continuous games, I think it’s normal there are some moments in the game that I’ll be down.

“With more games and more confidence I will be able to get to where I want to be.”
