Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez after the Italian champions refused to rule out his departure during the current summer transfer window. The Gunners are looking to bolster their attack ahead of the new campaign as they look to improve on a disappointing 8th placed finish in the Premier League last season.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to add a striker to his squad this summer.
And 23-year-old Martinez is thought to be on the Gunners radar as they chase a new number nine.
The Argentine international netted 17 goals in Serie A last season as Inter won their first league title since 2011.
Martinez joined the Nerazzurri in 2018 and has formed a lethal partnership with former Man Utd and Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku during his time in the Italian capital.
But now Martinez’s future at Inter is in doubt after the Italian champions refused to rule out a sale this summer.

Having spent heavily in recent transfer windows including a £66 million deal to sign Luakau from Man Utd in 2019, Inter are now having to balance their books.
The willingness to sell several of their key players led to the departure of former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at the end of last season.
And current Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is now facing up the possibility of losing one of his key players this summer.
Sky Sport Italy are reporting that Martinez could be set to depart with the Italian’s struggling to tie down their striker to a long term contract opening the door for a move to the Premier League.
DON’T MISS
Although Martinez is contracted to the Italian giants until 2023, they are considering a sale whilst his transfer value remains high.
Inter are already looking at replacements with his compatriot Joaquin Correa thought to be high on their wish list.
The Lazio striker worked with Inzaghi previously and could make the switch if Martinez departs.
Arteta will be keen to sign Martinez after his side’s struggles in front of goal in the last campaign.
Arsenal’s current options up front are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette with both players having come off a difficult season.
Aubameyang scored just 10 goals in the Premier League during the last campaign whilst the Frenchman netted 13 times.
The Gunners have spent over £70million this summer having added Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares to their squad.
They kick off their Premier League campaign against newly-promoted Brentford on 13 August.
