Arsenal learn Odegaard decision, Belgian ace could replace Xhaka and White boost
After a disappointing season that ended with Arsenal not qualifying for Europe entirely, Mikel Arteta’s side have an important summer ahead as they look to rebuild their squad.
Some of the positives of last season was that they were able to integrate academy players like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe into the side, and they will look to purchase quality players to improve them.
There will be some departures, however, with Granit Xhaka the most likely to leave North London.
Despite that, there is plenty to do for Arsenal as they aim to return to the higher places on the Premier League table next season.
Daily Star Sport has taken a look at Arsenal’s latest transfer news below.
Odegaard returning to Real Madrid
According to The Athletic, Martin Odegaard is expected to remain at Real Madrid next season and new coach Carlo Anclotti wants to see what his squad is like before making decisions on players’ futures.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was keen to keep the Norwegian in England after his short loan spell, but will now have to look elsewhere, with Real Betis’ Nabil Fekir linked.
Odegaard himself was believed to want to extend his spell at the Emirates Stadium.
Lakonga eyed as replacement
According to Belgian publication Het Laatste, Arsenal have made a bid for Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga as they look for Granit Xhaka replacements.
The Belgian midfielder, 22, was subject to a £12.9m bid as the Gunners’ look to bolster their midfield options.
Lokonga was also on Roberto Martinez’s stand-by list for the Euros squad after an impressive season in Belgium’s top-flight.

Positive talks over White
According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal have had ‘positive talks’ over the possible signing of Brighton defender Ben White this summer.
Arsenal are keen to bring the player over to the Emirates Stadium, but may be put off by his apparent £50m price tag.
White has attracted interest from many this season, and his inclusion in England’s squad for Euro 2020 has only raised his status.
