Arsenal 'keen to sign striker Victor Osimhen as well as Gabriel Jesus'

Arsenal are ‘interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as well as Gabriel Jesus’ with Mikel Arteta desperate to freshen up his attack this summer with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette expected to leave

  • Victor Osimhen’s agent ‘met with Arsenal last week to discuss a potential move’
  • The 23-year-old Nigerian striker has 28 goals in 62 games for Napoli since 2020
  • Gabriel Jesus is likely to leave Manchester City due to Erling Haaland’s arrival
  • Arsenal missed out on Champions League football by two points last season

Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen as well as Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus as they aim to bolster their attacking options this summer.

The Gunners missed out on Champions League qualification by two points on the final day of the season as arch-rivals Tottenham pipped them to fourth spot.

While Mikel Arteta’s young side showed promise throughout the season, they did not have a reliable goal-scoring striker and accordingly ended the league with eight less goals than Spurs.

Victor Osimhen’s agent reportedly met with Arsenal last week to discuss a potential transfer

Given that forwards Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are both out of contract this summer, picking up two new strikers could be an important move for Arsenal.

According to Goal, Osimhen’s agent flew to London for talks with Arsenal about a potential transfer last week.

However, the north London club understands Napoli will only consider offers considerably above the £65million that they played for the 23-year-old two years ago.

Arsenal’s failure to secure fourth place may hinder their chances of signing the in-demand Nigerian striker, as they are likely to be bidding against teams that can offer Champions League football.

Gabriel Jesus will struggle for game time when Erling Haaland arrives if he stays at Man City

He is certainly an exciting prospect with 28 goals in 62 appearance for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020.

The Gunners may have a better chance with Gabriel Jesus, though.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has one year left on his contract with Manchester City but will slip down the pecking order when Erling Haaland arrives ahead of next season.

Jesus has scored 95 goals in 236 games for City, and appeared 28 times last season as they won the Premier League by a point.

He could be a shrewd edition for an Arsenal team short of a consistent striker.
