Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brighton star Ben White this summer. However, the Seagulls are set to ask for up to £50million for the newly-capped England international. That fee would take a huge chunk out of Arsenal’s transfer budget.
Arsenal are seemingly in the market for a centre-back, and a right-sided one to be specific.
Rob Holding is the only recognised player in that position in the current squad, though William Saliba is set to return from his loan spell at Nice.
White, at the age of 23, is clearly a long-term option for Mikel Arteta but his price could prove a stumbling block for the Gunners.

Calum Chambers
Chambers has played the majority of his football under Arteta as a right-back.
However, he has the versatility to play on the right of a back three, which could be attractive to Brighton.
Chambers impressed in the second half of last season for the Gunners but has never been a nailed-on starter during his seven years with the club.
The 26-year-old has just over 12 months remaining on his Arsenal contract.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Maitland-Niles recently spoke about the uncertainty over his future at Arsenal.
The England international admitted he will look for “clarity” from Arteta over his plans going forward.
Like Chambers, Maitland-Niles can play a variety of positions but prefers it in midfield.
The 23-year-old could find a home at Brighton.
Joe Willock
Willock is another player whose future at Arsenal is not clear.
His stunning loan spell at Newcastle has led to the Magpies wanting to sign him on a permanent deal.
But with Willock’s price rising in recent months, Arsenal now know they could potentially use him to help their own transfer business.
The Hale End academy graduate has two years remaining on his Gunners contract.
Eddie Nketiah
England under-21 striker Nketiah is about to enter the final year of his contract at Arsenal.
Nketiah was starved of game time in the second half of last season and is yet to accept the offer of a renewal.
Brighton need to score more goals and there is potential in the 22-year-old.
Reports last month claimed Arsenal would want around £15m for his signature.
