Arsenal fans fume ‘any other team would get pen’ with handball rejected by VAR

Arsenal fans have vented their frustration on social media for a handball 'any other team would have been awarded' that was waved away on Saturday.

The Gunners conceded early doors to Bournemouth – but fans were left fumed after they were denied a penalty. Cherries defender Chris Mepham appeared to bring the ball down using his arm.

However, referee Chris Kavanagh didn't point to the spot, but the decision was sent to VAR. And to the surprise of Arsenal fans, VAR decided to stick with the on-field decision – leaving Gunners fans a mixture of fuming and shocked.

One fan fumed, when responding if he thought it was a penalty or not: "For Arsenal no. For any other team? Yes!"

"The rules change when it’s Arsenal playing," a second furiously responded. While a third tweeted: "Can't wait for @FA_PGMOL to apologise tomorrow and say this should have been a pen!"

"Nothing to see here. Just us getting robbed again," another added. And a fifth fumed: "Honestly mate. Any other club gets a penalty there."
