Arsenal fans disagree over the exact moment the ‘title was gone’ as dream ends

Arsenal supporters have disagreed over the exact moment their title charge came to an end after Brighton all but handed Manchester City the title.

The Gunners were top for a total of 31 matchweeks, but a recent run of poor form handed Pep Guardiola's men the chance to take advantage – with some key moments along the way.

Fans of Mikel Arteta's side took to social media as Brighton ran out 3-0 winners at the Emirates – with mentions for both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

A third follower wrote: "The title dream was over when Bukayo Saka missed that penalty at West Ham we go again next season."

A fourth sent: "We lost the league the moment William Saliba got injured."

Arsenal won seven games in a row across February into April, but drew three fixtures on the bounce before losing 4-1 to City at the Etihad.

Having then beaten both Chelsea and Newcastle, defeat against Brighton leaves them four points off top having played a game more that City, with only two remaining.

Captain Martin Odegaard spoke to Sky Sports after the fixture – and admitted the title race now feels over.

He said: "Yeah it feels like that [whether the title is over]. It is going to be very difficult now we have to be honest. It is tough to take.

"It is not a good feeling at the moment. The way we played, particularly in the second half, I don't know what happened to be honest. It feels like there is no hope now.

"In the first half we did a lot of good things and had moments to create big chances but we gave them more and more momentum in the second half."
