Arsenal could be in the market for a striker this summer following transfer updates on two of their players. Arsenal’s transfer business so far has mainly focused on recruiting in goal, defence and midfield. Left-back Nuno Tavares is set to seal a £6.9million move to the Emirates after flying to England over the weekend.

Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga is also claimed to be close to joining the Gunners.

Brighton defender Ben White is a top target, with Arsenal in advanced talks to sign the England international.

A couple of goalkeepers linked with the north Londoners are Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale and Barcelona’s Neto.

However, Mikel Arteta may soon have to bring in a new striker after updates on the future of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette.

Nketiah and Lacazette are both out of contract at Arsenal at the end of next season.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth claims Nketiah will leave in this window after failing to agree a new deal.

“Eddie Nketiah is another player who Arteta does rate but didn’t get too much first-team football towards the end of last season,” Sheth said on Sky Sports News.

“There were talks over a new contract – that did not bring a resolution so he will leave in this transfer window.

“We understand Bayer Leverkusen and three Premier League clubs are interested.”

Sheth also says there is a good chance Lacazette is sold if Arsenal receive a satisfactory fee for the Frenchman.

“One other line as well, Alexandre Lacazette,” he added.

“This is an interesting one because he was in the plans of Mikel Arteta and he was getting a lot of first-team football last season.

“But he’s entered the last year of his contract, no talks are planned or are underway over a new contract.

“If an offer does come in that Arsenal are happy with, they will let Lacazette go.

“Otherwise Lacazette will see out the remainder of his contract and leave for free next summer.

“He is of course free to sign a pre-contract agreement in six months with a foreign club.”

The departures of Nketiah and Lacazette would leave Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and academy graduate Folarin Balogun as the only two options for Arteta up front.

Aubameyang is often used out wide by Arteta and it remains to be seen how much of a chance Balogun will be given having yet to make his Premier League debut.

Arsenal were linked with a move for Portugal international Andre Silva, but he has since joined RB Leipzig.

Alexander Isak is also admired by those at the Emirates but he signed a new deal at Real Sociedad last week.
