Arsenal closing in on three deals as Saliba’s agent spotted at London Colney
Reaction to Declan Rice signing for Arsenal
Arsenal are closing in on three more deals following the extension of Reiss Nelson’s contract. Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are expected to undergo imminent medicals before completing their transfers while William Saliba looks set to extend his stay at the Emirates after his agent, Djibril Niang, uploaded a video from inside the boardroom at London Colney.
Rice is expected to undergo a medical on Friday after Arsenal and West Ham settled on a transfer fee worth £105million. The two clubs had been negotiating the payment terms and an agreement has now been reached for Arsenal to pay the £100m base fee over 24 months.
When completed, it will be a record transfer for Arsenal and also for a British player signing to a Premier League club. Timber is expected to undergo his medical on the same after the Gunners had a £38.5m bid accepted by Ajax.
Arsenal are set to pay £34.2m upfront plus £4.3m in add-ons for the 22-year-old defender. It is understood that Mikel Arteta is planning to play the Dutchman predominantly as a right-back while he will also provide cover as a centre-half as well.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Saliba has already signed his new contract at Arsenal after months of speculation. The transfer expert claims the deal will run until June 2027 with an option to extend it by a further year.
An official announcement is expected imminently. This comes after Nelson committed his future to his boyhood club earlier today by putting pen to paper on a fresh four-year deal. His contract also comes with an option to extend for a further year.
