Arsenal are expected to confirm at least three deadline day departures by the close of play tonight, Express Sport understands. The Gunners have been focusing their efforts on clearing the decks in north London, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is expected to arrive from Bologna.

A deal in the region of £19.5million (including add-ons) has now been agreed with the Serie A side.

Sources have told Express Sport that negotiations over the finer details of the transfer are now ongoing.

If all goes to play, the Japanese international is expected to undergo a medical in Italy later today.

Mikel Arteta is expected to field the player at right-back, where Arsenal are looking to strengthen their side.

Hector Bellerin, who has been out of favour under his former team-mate Arteta, is closing in on a loan move to Real Betis.

Barcelona were also keen but Betis have now won the race and the Spaniard has taken a pay cut to make the move happen.

Furthermore, winger Reiss Nelson is set to join Feyenoord on loan after flying to Rotterdam yesterday.

The Eredivisie side were supposed to be signing Amad on loan from Manchester United before the Ivorian picked up a muscle injury in training.

Nelson will extend his contract with Arsenal to protect his value before sending him out on loan.

Finally, goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson is heading to Belgian side OH Leuven on loan following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.

Further outgoings have not been ruled out either as Edu continues to clear the decks.

The Brazilian is understood to have been at the heart of negotiations to sign Tomiyasu after a deal was agreed quickly.

Tomiyasu is expected to complete Arsenal’s business for the summer and he will be the club’s sixth signing.

The Gunners have already pulled off the acquisitions of Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Ramsdale.

Those five deals – with add-ons – make Arsenal the biggest spenders in the Premier League at £129m.

Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah’s move to Crystal Palace is now off after the two clubs failed to agree on a fee.
