Arsenal-bound Nuno Tavares pictured on plane to London sending fans into frenzy
Nuno Tavares has been pictured on a plane alongside his agent, sending Arsenal fans into a frenzy.
The Benfica defender is edging closer to a switch to the Emirates with a deal believed to be worth £6.8million.
The fee could rise with potential add-ons with a five-year deal at the Gunners believed to be the agreement for Tavares.
A video clip had circulated on social media on Friday of the 21-year-old at Lisbon airport ahead of a flight to London.
An image was also shared on social media by the player's agent of Tavares and his entourage onboard a seemingly private aircraft.
And fans were loving what they were seeing, with one writing on social media: "Solid 2nd choice left back, good signing."
With another putting: "Arsenal fans, start tracking the plane now."
While a third took a dig at rivals Manchester United as they commented: "Already better than [Luke] Shaw."
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is yet to make a summer signing, though said ahead of the transfer window: "We have already had an incredible amount of changes at the club over the past year or so, more than ever.
"We are looking to improve and be much closer than where we are at the moment. In order to do that there are certain things that we have to improve.
"Now it is how we evolve, there are a lot of things that had to be done and they have been done, a lot of changes to make and a lot of them have been made.
"Now it is time to evolve. To evolve you to have to take things so that when they are a little more settled and established, take them to the next level.
"We have made progress in many areas, I would say performance included, and that is supported by many factors that we have looked at. Results-wise, to be where we want to be, it has to be improved."
