Arsenal's plan to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga have been dealt a significant blow.
The French midfielder has been linked with a number of top clubs this summer, with the Gunners among those rumoured to be interested in striking a deal.
Camavinga, 18, is regarded as one of Europe's brightest talents and is expected to leave Rennes in the upcoming transfer window.
It has been claimed that Arsenal were in contact with Camavinga's representatives regarding a transfer, though any deal currently appears dead in the water.
Responding to a comment from a subscriber about the Frenchman being linked to the Emirates, the Athletic's David Ornstein ruled out the possibility of this happening.
“As far as I know, there’s no chance," said Ornstein.
Camavinga currently has one year remaining on his current contract, forcing the French club to cash in on their star man while they still can.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are just two of the other sides linked with a move for the teenager, who is likely to be seeking Champions League football when considering his next step.
Although Camavinga is yet to decide on his future, his agent has made clear he has many options on the table.
Jonathan Barnett, who represents a number of others stars including Gareth Bale, told AMTV: "Believe me we have a lot of offers for this year, a lot of offers, and good ones. I mean top, top clubs.
"We don’t want to rush. There is the right time to move on and playing games is the most important thing at his age.
"Playing in a good club is nice for him. It might be this year, or he wants to have another year.
"He has got to talk to his family, his father. We will all sit down and decide. We will talk to Rennes as well and decide. There is no rush for him.
"He’s probably the best young player in the world. He has just turned 18.
"He has already been a French international. He’s an unbelievable talent. He could play in any team in the world. He is still going to be a great talent at 19. It’s not that old you know, 19."
