Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed Bukayo Saka’s links to a Liverpool move in the future. The Spaniard isn’t worried about his number seven’s commitment and sees such speculation as a positive during an impressive season so far.

Saka was named Arsenal’s 2020/21 Player of the Year before impressing many on the international stage by helping England reach the European Championship final in the summer.

He has scored six Premier League goals this season, already bettering his season record in the competition.

And Ian McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast that Saka could potentially be interested in a Liverpool move in the future.

The speculation doesn’t worry Arteta, though. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

He has welcomed links, suggesting it’s proof of how well Saka and the club are progressing on the pitch.

He said: “I think that’s great news when you have a lot of talk and people willing for your players, it’s a really good sign.

“They should be proud because that means they are doing extremely good work. I am really happy with Bukayo, and with what he’s doing, with how he’s developing and the importance he has on the team.

“Most importantly with the impact that he’s able to make in each game. This is something that we want to keep improving in each game, because he has the capacity to do it.”

Jurgen Klopp will be looking for fresh attacking talent in the coming years, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all in their prime.

McGarry believes Saka would suit the Reds’ style if Arsenal can’t offer him the terms he wants.

“My understanding is that there have been talks with his representatives with regards to giving him a contract upgrade at Arsenal,” he explained.

“Liverpool would provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level.

In December, Arsenal icon Ray Parlour warned the club that clubs higher in the food chain would be circling Saka.

“I look at the young team, they can develop and keep improving,” Parlour explained on talkSPORT.

“You know what the hardest thing is going to be? It’s keeping the players. You know [what’s happened] over the years.

“Saka must be on people’s radar all day long, a big side like Manchester City must be looking at him going, ‘He’ll improve our side.'”
