Arsenal blasted for "celebrating a draw" after Lacazette’s late goal

Former Tottenham star Jason Cundy has blasted Arsenal for “celebrating” their draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The Gunners required a last-minute equaliser from Alexandre Lacazette to rescue a point after Patrick Vieira’s visitors came from behind to lead the game heading into added time.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had put the hosts ahead after eight minutes, before Christian Benteke struck back with a drilled effort into the bottom corner.

Odsonne Edouard then hammered Palace in front, but Lacazette scored from a rebound in the fifth minute of added time to steal a point.

The equaliser could not hide the fact that Palace were the better side in the Premier League clash, with Cundy feeling they were unlucky to not come away with the three points.

“I felt Palace were the better side, Palace deserved to win that game, Arsenal got lucky, very lucky,” he told talkSPORT.

“Very odd performance from them because the opening 15 minutes they took the game to Palace and got the early goal.

“That tends to set the trend for the home side, especially in a game like this when you’re expected to win. Not a bit of it, let’s give Palace a huge amount of credit, they were the better side.

  • Three things Mikel Arteta got wrong and two he got right as Arsenal draw with Palace

“They allowed Crystal Palace to dominate the ball, it reminded me a little bit of Man Utd’s second half performance against Leicester.

“They didn’t close the ball, they didn’t engage with the ball, they didn’t close down, they allowed players like Conor Gallagher to pass and stroke the ball around.”

Lacazette’s equaliser sparked wild celebrations at the Emirates Stadium, but Cundy slammed the Gunners for being happy with just a point.

“I have to say Palace, superb tonight, absolutely brilliant, every Palace fan can be delighted with what they’ve seen,” he added.

“I’ve just watched Arsenal celebrate a draw, last minute against Palace, I know what it’s like when you get a point.
