Arsenal and Man City’s Premier League fixtures compared ahead of title run-in

The Premier League title race swung back in Manchester City's favour at the weekend after Arsenal dropped points at West Ham.

Reigning champions City now know victory when the two sides meet at the Etihad next week will put them in pole position to retain their crown. Pep Guardiola has his side doing what they do best, motoring at the business end of the season, with a comfortable 3-1 win against Leicester on Saturday (April 15).

Mikel Arteta's men, in contrast, are stuttering just at the wrong time with back-to-back 2-2 draws. However, they do have far less games to play in the remainder of the season.

Having been eliminated from all other competitions, they've just the seven fixtures left. City not only have a game in hand, but also the potential of two more FA Cup contests and a further four Champions League outings.

Based on current league positions, Arsenal have the slightly trickier run-in, with their upcoming opponents averaging a spot of 8.9 in the table compared to 10.75 for City.

The Gunners will be on home turf for the majority of those, though, and they have been better at the Emirates than on their travels. They should be confident of winning all four against Southampton, Chelsea, Brighton and Wolves.

Aside from the showdown with City, a trip to Newcastle on May 7 is a potential banana skin. Guardiola's men will consider their postponed game away at Brighton, which is yet to rearranged, as their second hardest fixture to come.

The statisticians put City as favourites, with Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis at Nielsen's Gracenote, telling BBC Sport: "The chance of Arsenal lifting the Premier League trophy next month has declined.

"From 50% on 4 April to 32% now, [it's] their lowest chance of winning the title since early November. Manchester City's chance of winning the Premier League – 68% – is now at its highest level this season."

Ultimately, the title race will most likely come down to the two sides' meeting on April 26 – and with City far more experienced than the youthful Arsenal squad when it comes to performing under pressure, Daily Star Sport predicts they'll be lifting the trophy come the final day on May 28.
