Antonio Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham boss at the start of November and the Italian is already imposing change on his suqad, after reportedly telling some members of his side that they are overweight.

Antonio Conte has now taken charge of two Tottenham matches since arriving at the club at the beginning of November, and is already starting to make changes as he assess his squad.

The former Inter Milan boss was brought in after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked, with the Portuguese manager only lasting 124 days in charge.

Conte is a serial winner and experienced Serie A success with Inter last season, and he demands nothing but the best out of his players, as the Tottenham squad are finding out.

Following Conte’s first game in charge, the Italian told his side that they are overweight and said something needed to change.

Tottenham started the season off in good form and they were top of the Premier League after three games thanks to their 100% record.

However, a dismal run led to the sacking of Espirito Santo, and usual-prolific striker Harry Kane is just one of the stars that has been under performing for Tottenham so far this season.

Conte’s first game in charge resulted in a 3-2 win over Vitesse in the UEFA Conference League, but the Italian delivered an honest admission after the game.

According to The Athletic, Conte told the players that although he was proud of the way they had “suffered”, they needed get in shape as he was unhappy with their physical condition.

Conte warned the squad that this was the last time he wanted to see overweight players, said that their current levels were not good enough, and that the team’s mentality must change.

The report also reveals that to help players get back to their best, Conte has already realigned the club’s approach to nutrition and cut corners where he can.

Due to believing that a some of the club’s players are overweight, the boss has cut out heavy food and sandwiches after training, and even banned ketchup and mayonnaise.

Fruit juice has also been cut down, as has cooking with oil and butter, and Conte has encouraged his players to eat more fruit.

It could be an exciting era for Tottenham if Conte is backed and can get the bets out of his players, and fans will be hoping that he is finally the man to deliver trophy success after a 13-year wait.

Tottenham will be hoping at the very least that Conte can qualify for Europe, but with the new UEFA Conference League Spurs could guarantee a Europa League spot by winning the competition.

This latest change by Conte could lead to improved results on the pitch, and if he can get Kane firing again then anything is possible.

The England international has only scored one Premier League goal this season, and it’s expected when Kane is back on form, wins and results will follow.
