Andre Onana FT video shows devastated Man Utd keeper ‘even dropping his gloves’

The jokes kept coming at Andre Onana's expense even after Manchester United's Champions League fate was all but sealed at Galatasaray on Wednesday.

The Red Devils twice let a two-goal lead slip as they drew 3-3 in Istanbul, leaving them stranded at the base of Group A with only one game to play. That means United have to beat group-winner Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on December 13 while hoping Copenhagen and Gala share the spoils in their final outing.

And a considerable amount of the blame was lumped at Onana's feet after he let in two Hakim Ziyech free-kicks, the second of which was all too saveable at this standard. The Cameroonian was spotted looking distraught on the Rams Park pitch after full-time on Wednesday, and social media users couldn't help but pile more misery on the player.

Onana, 27, looked into the distance with his hands on his hips before ripping his gloves off in frustration. And one spectator couldn't help themselves as they commented: "He even dropped his gloves…."

Another joked: "I'm not going to lie, I'm not sure Onana is a GK you know." The midweek disappointment was far from the first time the £52million summer signing has found himself in the headlines for an avoidable mistake during his debut year with United.

Do you think Man United should keep persisting with Andre Onana as their No1 goalkeeper? Let us know in the comments section below.

After reuniting with former Ajax mentor Erik ten Hag, the stopper was hailed for his distribution ability as United sought to enact the manager's blueprint with him as their new foundation. However, he hit the target with fewer than 50% of his passes on Wednesday, while opposite number Fernando Muslera boasted a pass accuracy of 78%.

Onana did pull off a number of important saves that otherwise might have led to a second defeat in as many meetings with the Turks this season. However, one could easily argue Galatasaray only levied as many shots from long range because they sensed United's No1 was a liability.

In addition to signing Onana from Inter Milan in the summer, United also purchased Turkey international Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for a much lower fee. Ten Hag has remained loyal to his former Ajax up until now, but the former Super Lig prospect may soon get a promotion if problems persist between the posts.
