Andorra stadium on fire ahead of England's World Cup qualifier clash

A fire has broken out at Andorra’s national stadium just over 24 hours before England are due to play their 2022 World Cup qualifier.

The fire was seen engulfing the TV gantry at the Estadi Nacional stadium where Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions kick-off on Saturday night.

The fire looks to have been put out quickly but it remains unclear if the match will now go ahead as planned tomorrow.

News of the fire engulfing the gantry was captured live on Sky Sports News.

Journalist Rob Dorsett was doing a piece to camera discussing Gareth Southgate’s team selection for tomorrow night’s match before realising the fire was developing next to him.

Within seconds the gantry was taken hold of by the flames as black smoke poured out of the small building on the side of the pitch.

‘But I can only thank Gareth for what he’s done for me on and off the pitch, and the trust that he has in me personally to name me captain. It’s a surreal moment.’
