Carlo Ancelotti has laid down the law to Everton’s squad and warned he will be happy to sell any players who are unhappy with their situation.

Ancelotti was mystified by Everton’s performance against Sheffield United, which resulted in another Goodison Park defeat, and felt compelled to publicly question his players’ attitude.

He gathered the squad recently and made it clear that anyone who is not committed to the club would be allowed to leave.

Moise Kean is eager to make his loan switch to Paris Saint-Germain permanent this summer

Asked about Moise Kean, who is eager to make his loan to Paris Saint-Germain permanent, Ancelotti said: ‘If he wants to stay at Paris, the only way is to find a deal.

‘I don’t want players here who are unhappy and if there are players who are not happy to stay here, they can ask to leave.

‘There is no problem at all. I want players who are happy and want to stay at Everton and feel part of this project. There is no player I can force to stay here.’

Everton looked likely to qualify for European football for much of this season but the manner in which they have squandered their opportunity has left Ancelotti bemused.

It is, he believes, down to how they have applied themselves.

‘I don’t want to nominate the players (individually) but most of them, the commitment for the (Sheffield United) game was absolutely not good,’ said the Italian, who dismissed speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

‘It was unacceptable, because the game was so important.

‘It is good publicity to be linked to Madrid! We have difficulties but I feel good at Everton and my target is to make Everton better.’
