Amorim has already spoken on Chelsea job as Boehly makes contact again
Ruben Amorim has already spoken on the Chelsea job in the past amid reports he has held fresh talks with the Blues. The Portuguese coach is again linked with the Stamford Bridge vacancy after being a contender earlier this season.
Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim was first linked with the Chelsea job following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel last September. Reports claimed he spoke to Todd Boehly about the potential of becoming the next head coach.
Boehly instead opted to go with Graham Potter, who had experience in the Premier League with Brighton. But Potter lasted less than seven months in the hot seat before being sacked early this month.
Shortly after Potter was appointed, Amorim spoke on the rumours linking him with a move to west London. But he kept his cards close to his chest, insisting he was happy in Lisbon.

Amorim told O Jogo: “The project I am in is the project I want. I have another year and a half of contract.
“Chelsea have presented a coach for the next five years. I am happy here and I am not thinking about another project.”
Potter didn’t even see out one year of the five-year deal he signed. Chelsea are again on the search for a new head coach.
Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are two of the leading contenders to get the job permanently. Frank Lampard is attempting to steady the ship until the summer on an interim basis.

But the Guardian claims fresh talks have been held with Amorim over the vacancy. There is no suggestion yet that he is a leading candidate for the Chelsea hierarchy.
Amorim’s first taste of senior management was at Portuguese third-tier side Casa Pia in 2018. He then had a spell at Braga, where he won the League Cup, a tournament he has won a further two times with Sporting.
He took over at Sporting in March 2020 and won the club their first top-flight title in 19 years during his first full season in charge. Amorim is also growing a reputation on the European stage.
Sporting reached the last-16 of the Champions League last year, where they came up against a rampant Manchester City, and they are in the quarter-final of the Europa League this term. They will be aiming to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Juventus in the second leg next Thursday.
