Amad Diallo to Man Utd: Shirt numbers £37m signing could wear after transfer announcement
Amad Diallo demonstrates skills in training before Man Utd move
Amad Diallo has finally completed his move to Manchester United after a deal was initially agreed on deadline day last summer with the club announcing his shirt number will be revealed in the next few days. United agreed a deal with Atalanta worth up to £37million back in October, although it was subject to a medical, work permit and personal terms.
They were also waiting on visa approval from the Ivory Coast embassy with Diallo flying out to Rome to complete the final pieces of paperwork earlier this week.
And it appears as though there are no concerns of a visa being issued with United announcing Diallo has officially signed.
He still hasn’t arrived in Manchester yet, but United are hopeful of welcoming their new signing soon.
“As a club, we have followed Amad for a number of years and having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game,” Solskjaer said.
“Manchester United has such a proud history of developing young players and everything is in place to enable Amad to reach his potential here.

“It will take time for him to adapt but his speed, vision and fantastic dribbling ability will stand him in good stead to make the transition. He is a player with all of the raw attributes that are needed to be an important player for Manchester United in the years to come.”
United have also decided to wait to reveal what shirt number Diallo will wear and Express Sport gives a few examples of what’s available to the teenager.
Diallo had a relatively unique number on the back of his shirt with Atalanta’s first team as he was given 79.
At youth level, the talented winger often wore 10 or 7, but neither of those will be available to Diallo.
DON’T MISS
No. 12
All numbers between one and 11 are taking up at United with Edinson Cavani taking the previously vacant seven shirt last summer.
Chris Smalling was the last United player to wear number 12 before he left on a permanent basis to join Roma in the summer transfer window.
No 15
The number 15 shirt is also available with Andreas Pereira joining Lazio on loan six months ago.
The shirt has been associated with some famous names at Old Trafford with Nemanja Vidic and Gary Neville among those to have donned number 15.
No 19
Diallo could take the view of following in Marcus Rashford’s footsteps with the England international vacating number 19 for the 10 shirt.
Dwight Yorke famously wore number 19 throughout his four years at Old Trafford.
No 79
Of course the number 79 is available to Diallo as well and he could well opt to make the shirt his own at Old Trafford having donned it at Atalanta.
Nobody in United’s history has donned the number 79, although it’s believed the number has no serious significance to Diallo other than being the shirt he made his professional debut with in Italy.
