Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill could earn Man Utd call ups for Liverpool U23s goals

Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill could earn call-ups to Manchester United’s senior squad after destroying Liverpool’s U23s.

The 18-year-old, who arrived from Atalanta this month, made his debut for the reserves in a 6-3 hammering of the Reds.

He only needed 14 minutes to get on the scoreboard, chasing down Billy Koumeito’s loose ball before confidently slotting the ball into the back of the net.

While he finished off the scoring with a cheeky panenka penalty with 15 minutes of play left and 5-2 up.

But the rest of the goals were scored by Hugill, slotting either side of half time before grabbing a penalty 10 minutes earlier.

It means the 17-year-old, who arrived at the club from Sunderland over the summer, has scored 14 goals and two assists in 18 games this season.

And it has been noticed by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was right in the middle of his preparations to take on Arsenal.

Speaking to MUTV [via MEN], the boss said: “Four goals by Hugill, he’s a top striker as well, we’re looking forward to seeing his development.

“Amad gets a good start and why Joe didn’t take the penalty himself to get five goals I’m going to ask him.”

Diallo also had his own response to the win, writing on Twitter: “Did you enjoy the show?”

The Ivorian and Hugill could be allowed to take centre-stage in the senior squad, with a Premier League clash against Southampton coming up after the Gunners.

And the United faithful called on Solskjaer to make the call following the win on Merseyside.

“Hugill and Diallo will be ready to tear s*** up in the not too distant future,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “Diallo and Hugill need to make the step up.”

While a third simply added: “Get Hugill and Diallo in the first team!”

It comes days after fans made up their minds on Diallo for his performance in training with the senior squad earlier this week.
