Rio Ferdinand joked with Paul Pogba prior to Manchester United clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils legend, now turned BT Sport pundit, was carrying out pre-match media duties with host Jake Humphrey’s and co-host Joleon Lescott.

Whilst on the pitch at Goodison Park, Pogba was warming up for United and produced a wayward pass which hit Ferdinand on the back on the leg.

Ferdinand was seen embracing the 2018 World Cup following a misplaced pass pre-match

Following the Frenchman’s misplaced effort, Ferdinand said ‘you almost nutmegged me’, and then the ex-defender and Pogba both embraced, with the 2018 World Cup winner also shaking hands with Humphrey’s and Lescott in an apology.

Surprisingly, Pogba was left out of the starting eleven with Ralf Rangnick preferring experienced Serb Nemanja Matic in the centre alongside Brazil international Fred.

The latter went off injured in the 33rd minuted with Pogba entering the pitch, taking his place alongside the Serbia international.

Pogba continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford as he approaches the last four months of his contract.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and former club Juventus are all interested in securing his services.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand also met up with former teammate and close friend Cristiano Ronaldo after the pair embraced when the Ronaldo left the United team bus.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: ‘This guy brings undoubted quality and an undoubted return in terms of goals. 

‘I think he is going to be hard to stop if there is chances created. The thing is he’ll be thinking Everton will make mistakes, I want to be there to pounce. That’s his mentality.’
