Spain have received a much-needed boost on the eve of Euro 2020 with the news that all 26 members of Luis Enrique’s squad have returned negative Covid-19 PCR tests.
Enrique’s plans were thrown into disarray at the weekend with captain Sergio Busquets testing positive and the entire squad put into isolation.
This meant that Spain’s Under-21 squad had to fulfil the senior side’s friendly with Lithuania on Tuesday night, while there was a further setback on Wednesday when Leeds defender Diego Llorente returned a positive.

Leeds defender Diego Llorente has now returned two negative tests and is fit to train
But there was finally some good news on Thursday, with the whole squad returning negative tests. Busquets and Llorente have returned two negative tests each, permitting them to resume training.
The news comes just four days before Spain’s opener against Sweden, and will allow Enrique to step up their preparations as he looks to make up for lost time.
It was revealed on Wednesday that Spain’s health minister had permitted the army to vaccinate Enrique and his squad ahead of the Euros, with all of their group fixtures set to take place in Seville against Sweden, Poland and Slovakia.
Enrique sprang a surprise when naming his squad by naming no Real Madrid players, with their captain and 2010 World Cup winner Sergio Ramos the most notable absentee.
