Alisson to be rewarded with new contract after keeper’s goal-scoring heroics
Liverpool will reward their keeper Alisson with a new contract in the summer.
But it is likely he will get bonuses for clean sheets – not goals – despite his unbelievable match-winning finish at the weekend, which is destined to go down in club history.
And the Brazilian’s international team-mate Fabinho (above) will also open discussions over a new contract.
He has had a season which has seen him as the club’s most consistent performer during what was an injury-blighted year.
Boss Jurgen Klopp wants to tie down the key pair to long-term deals and the club will respond with negotiations over new deals during the off-season break.
Liverpool have an option on an extra year with Alisson’s contract, which would mean he still has three years left to run, but the club want to reward his excellence with an improved deal.
Fabinho will enter the final two years of his contract and, at 27, the club are keen to extend his deal to keep him at Anfield into his 30s.
