Alan Shearer and Ian Wright agree over Jose Mourinho’s fresh Tottenham criticism

Alan Shearer and Ian Wright agreed that Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was taking a shot at his own players with his comments after Sunday's draw with Newcastle.

Mourinho didn't mince his words after the disappointing performance at St James' Park.

Having come from behind to lead the game against the relegation-threatened Magpies, Tottenham threw away the three points after allowing Joe Willock to score late in the game.

The Arsenal loanee smashed home from close range after being given space in the penalty area.

Speaking after the defeat, Mourinho refused to accept the blame for the recent poor result, instead blaming mistakes on the pitch.

"Same coach, different players," he said, before adding: "I don't want to say much more."

Both Wright and Shearer agreed that the comments were a direct dig at his own players.

Speaking to Match of the Day 2, the two retired strikers discussed how Mourinho's comments will be interpreted by his playing squad.
