Agbonlahor would have wiped out Richarlison for disrespectful showboating

Premier League icon Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted he would have 'taken a red' by clattering Richarlison after his showboating against Nottingham Forest.

With Tottenham cruising to victory, Antonio Conte introduced the summer signing into the mix. And the Brazilian produced some cheeky kick-ups to the delight of Spurs fans when he found himself with some space at the City Ground.

However, some fans saw Richarlison's showboating as disrespectful, and fans fumed at the Spurs man on social media. While Agbonlahor admitted he'd 'take a red card' and clatter into the Brazilian if he had been on the pitch for Forest.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa man said: "Nah, I’m taking a red card!"

When asked to expand, he said: “Because it’s not as if he’s played the whole game and he’s the top goalscorer in the Premier League, you’ve come on as a sub. Yes, a great assist, but come on, don’t disrespect your teammates.”

He added: "Neymar used to get booted for it at PSG and Barcelona when he used to do it. As a footballer, you’re taking the mick!"

Brennan Johnson had strongly challenged Richarlison after the Brazilian had his fun. Referee Craig Pawson flashed Johnson a yellow card for going the challenge, which had left Richarlison clutching his ankle on the floor.
