AC Milan 'considering sensational swoop for Romelu Lukaku'

AC Milan ‘considering sensational swoop for Romelu Lukaku’ ahead of city rivals Inter… with boss Stefano Pioli ‘keen to reinvest fee for Sandro Tonali to pair Belgian up with Olivier Giroud in attack’

  • The future of Romelu Lukaku is a key talking point in this transfer window
  • He spent last season on loan with Inter Milan and is said to be keen to stay
  • A new report in Italy has claimed that rivals AC Milan are plotting their own move

AC Milan are considering a ‘sensational’ move for Romelu Lukaku, under the noses of their bitter rivals Inter.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan and the Italian giants are eager to extend that loan for another year, with the player reluctant to return to parent club Chelsea.

But Gazzetta dello Sport claim that a ‘sensational’ idea has been born across the city in Milan, with AC plotting a permanent move for the Belgian in a bid to refresh their ageing attack.

The Italian newspaper explains that Milan are eager to negotiate a deal to buy him outright, which is infinitely more attractive to Chelsea than another loan deal.

Sandro Tonali is closing in on a move to Newcastle and Milan are reportedly eager to reinvest that money to make a splash ahead of next season.

Gazzetta dello Sport have detailed the explosive story of Lukaku on Thursday’s front page

There is interest from Saudi Arabia for Lukaku but he is understood to not be keen on a move to the Kingdom, where he is also wanted by Al-Hilal.

It now appears there is a battle between the two Milan teams and that could ramp up pressure on Inter.

‘Romelu loves Inter, that’s very clear,’ Inter president Steven Zhang said last month.

‘He’s great guy but he’s under contract at Chelsea.’

Zhang added: ‘We have to wait and speak to Chelsea to make Lukaku’s future clear’.

Chelsea accept they have been forced to take a financial hit on all the players heading for the exit this summer as they look to pull off an extensive summer clear-out for new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Lukaku has an affinity to Inter but they are reportedly only planning to make a loan offer

But Lukaku won’t be allowed to leave for nothing and so a bidding war would come as music to the ears of the Blues.

It appears Inter are only willing to sanction another loan deal while the report adds that AC Milan could go up to €40m.

Crossing the derby lines in Milan however would be a bold move and one that would shake up Italian football.
