Rugby World Cup star swears in post-match interview after England blunder

England 71-0 Chile: Rugby World Cup Match Review

After a spectacular day of rugby on Saturday, we are back for what could be a similarly intriguing day in France with Scotland gearing up to take on Tonga before a mouthwatering Pool C clash between Wales and Australia. There is still over a month remaining of the World Cup but we may have already seen some of the best rugby from this year’s tournament.

Ireland’s 13-8 victory over South Africa felt as if they were playing a final, as it was clear to see why they are ranked as the top two teams in the world – as the match could have gone either way but it was the Irish who were jubilant at the full-time whistle.

That came after England’s 71-0 rout over Chile, as Henry Arundell scored an incredible five tries after a breathtaking 18-18 draw between two of European rugby’s top teams outside of the Six Nations in Georgia and Portugal.

But now attention turns to Scotland vs Tonga and Wales vs Australia, in what could be a pivotal day for some of the top rugby teams in the world as they look to solidify their places in the quarter-finals.

Eddie Jones new job

Australia boss Eddie Jones has come under increasing pressure following his disappointing start to the Rugby World Cup and defeat to Fiji.

While The Sydney Morning Herald have claimed that he held secret talks with Japan just days before the tournament began in France.

He was said to have applied for the coaching job over a Zoom interview, with Japan currently in the process of finding a new head coach.

Though the news will not come at a welcomed time, with Australia hours away for a do-or-die clash with Wales this evening.

England MOTM error

Henry Arundell was the worthy winner of yesterday’s man of the match after England’s rout of Chile.

Despite a string of impressive performances from Steve Borthwick’s side it was Arundell who was the sole contender for the award after scoring five tries.

But that didn’t appear enough for the official Rugby World Cup X account, who accidentally claimed that ‘Ben’ Arundell took the award, rather than winger Henry Arundell.

Sweary interview

Ireland star Mark Hansen was forced to swiftly apologise after swearing during his post-match interview with ITV.

Hansen played a key role as Ireland came out on top against South Africa, before applauding the travelling supporters as France appeared almost entirely green on Saturday evening.

But he accidentally swore in the process, saying: “It was pretty much like a Grand Slam on steroids out there. It was crazy. It said there were 80,000, it seemed like there were f***ing 800,000.”
