Your say: Who wins tonight?

We’re about ten minutes from the start of tonight’s match. What do you think the result will be?

Brisbane slight favourites but Richmond unbeaten in three

The Lions come in slight favourites to what is expected to be a hard-fought game in a clear-skied Brisbane.

The home side has won all six of their matches at The Gabba this season, while Richmond won their last three hit-outs before enjoying a bye last week. Only two teams have won their match after the bye this season.

Martin a late scratching for Tigers

Richmond star Dustin Martin has been ruled out of his club’s clash with Brisbane Lions at the Gabba tonight.

The Tigers tweeted that Martin has “flu like symptoms”. He’s replaced by Noah Cumberland.

Lions to wear black armbands for Randell

The Lions will wear black armbands in memory of former Fitzroy captain and best and fairest winner Matt Rendell tonight.

Brisbane Lions chief executive Greg Swann said Rendell was greatly loved by people around the AFL, especially his clubmates from his Fitzroy days.

“We pass on our deepest sympathies to Matt’s wife Leonie, his children Daniel and James and the entire Rendell family at this very sad time,” he said.

“Matt left an extraordinary mark on our game and I know many, especially those in Fitzroy circles, will be mourning his loss today.”

Real Footy podcast: Should Collingwood fans be worried?

This week on the Real Footy podcast, Peter Ryan, Jake Niall and Sam McClure discuss Collingwood’s victory over Adelaide and their trend of snatching come-from-behind wins.

Should the fact that they often trail teams be a cause for concern? Or is their ladder position a sign that there’s nothing for supporters to worry about? The stats might show that Collingwood are winning without playing well, but they are without a couple of key players, including Jordan De Goey and Steele Sidebottom. And they do have a forward line problem.

But there are plenty of things for Pies supporters to enjoy: Nick Daicos, who showed against the Crows that he can play on the inside, and the brand of footy they play that makes them so hard to score against.

Fit to play but ruled out: Lions make telling call on star trio

Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan has declared veteran Dayne Zorko fit to take the field this week; however, he will not be chosen to battle Richmond tonight.

The 34-year-old, who is off contract at season’s end, had not been sighted for the past three weeks as he tried to overcome a calf injury.

However, Fagan confirmed the forward was tracking well for a comeback, and his decision to keep him on the sidelines was to ensure he remained on the field for a deep finals charge.

He said that, given Zorko has already been sent to the casualty ward throughout the season, the club needs to take precautions if he is going to figure in their premiership tilt.
